JEE Main 2025 Guidance

The two main processes used for JEE Main Counselling are JoSAA and CSAB. Admission is available to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 29 other GFTIs through the first round of JoSAA counselling. Following the conclusion of JoSAA Counselling, CSAB holds various rounds of counselling for admission to the open seats following JoSAA and the other designated seats under CSAB NEUT, SFTI, etc.

  • For admission to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 29 other GFTIs, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts JoSAA Counselling. For applicants who have passed both the JEE Main and Advanced exams, there is a combined process for counselling.
    • Six rounds make up the JoSAA. However, two extra rounds known as CSAB special rounds are held in the event that any seats become vacant  conducted to fill the vacant seats available.
    • After each round of JoSAA Counselling, a category-wise wise opening and closing rank is released which is the admission cut off for JEE Main.
    • The opening rank is the lowest eligible rank to secure admission while the closing rank is the highest eligible rank to secure admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST or GFTIs.
  • The Central Seat Allocation Board for North Eastern States and Union Territories, or CSAB NEUT, conducts counselling for candidates from the eight North Eastern States and four Union Territories seeking admission to engineering, technology, or architectural programmes.
    • Candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep are eligible for seats offered by CSAB NEUT.
    • These seats are being made available under the "Reservation of Seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs in the AICTE-approved Institutions Lacking Facilities for Education in Specific Fields of Technical Education and for Certain Categories" scheme.
  • CSAB SFTI Counselling: CSAB SFTI Counselling is conducted for admission to Self Financing Technical Institutes in India. CSAB SFTI was discontinued for the school year 2021–2022 due to insufficient SFTI participation. Any updates for this year will be updated here after the official announcement.
  • Two rounds of CSAB Special Round Counselling are held by the organisation. The rounds are held to fill seats in the NIT+ system that were unfilled following six rounds of JoSAA Counselling.
  • For admission to supernumerary seats at specific NITs, CSAB also holds CSAB Supernumerary Round Counselling through its web platform. Candidates from the Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, and Surat may apply for admission to NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat through the CSAB Supernumerary Round Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
