The IVRI provides 19 Doctoral degrees and 24 Master's programmes in a variety of subject areas. In addition to Mukteshwar, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, and Palampur, it has five other campuses. The only location where UG courses are offered is in Izatnagar, Bareilly. Additionally, the institute provides grants to applicants who pass the MVSc/PhD entrance exams.

All of the programmes have relatively modest fees. The professional course lasts 5.5 years, whereas the master's programme lasts for two years. There are ICAR scientists on the faculty.
